once I find/make a suitable image, I'll either use it as a bump map, or tessalate the areas that need the bumps and use displace

and can anyone help me find a good refrence pic of the bottom? mine are blurry or a bad angle

you should make a code lyoko mini movie. make the animation for Lyoko, someone can supply you with 2d flash animation, get voice actores, and after a few months, walaah!

You have GIMP? Really... I've been experimenting with GIMP a little, and while I don't think it does 3D, Open Office drawings does, I think...

That is, if you have Linux programs, and not just a windows program for GIMP.

But what do I know? I just make little drawings and play Tux Racer all day.

Gimp and PhotoFiltre. Mostly Gimt, though. PhotoFiltre is for special and hard Ocasions. the one i made with all the sector 5 monsters is an example of good GIMP work.

I suggest looking at The french site. This is the XANA picture gallery, and has some very nice, large, pictures. This is what i use when I make my monster pics. And as you can see, the ones of the bloks show some fairly well kept texture.
And there's also some wonderful season 2 pics, if you want to look into some other form.
