Okay, I feel like an idiot. Every one of you who's ever had art stolen may personally shoot me in the right hand right now, because there's a greater-than-zero chance I stole it. *Bends over* Hate me, for I am dumb.
Regardless, I have the (in this case) good fortune to be so bad at drawing no one would want to steal my work....however, I (frankly) kick ass at writing and would be very vindictive should I be plagarised....I think my stuff is distinctive enough that it might be a bit of a pain in the ass to take it as your own, but still....I also wouldn't mind much, as long as they didn't win, like, a cash prize or credit for my character to be on CL. I also keep my stuff in obscure corners of the net.

The trouble with CL.com is that there's absolutely no way to tell who anyone is or track them down to contact them about stealing...and there's no "Help Desk" either...since everyone keeps telling us to email CL.com itself. Ai...*holds head*
Anyway...There are now no less than four art thieves running around CL.com. Alyssa101 (the first art thief, and who stole Chibi-Jen-Hen's work) did indeed win last month's fanart contest with stolen artwork. This is absolutely sickening to the heart.
The other three art thieves are Odd243555, badger, and yumi2391. They've all stolen art that is clearly not there's...and amusingly enough...are stealing the same pieces of art to claim as their own (letting everyone know that obviously something's amiss). Both Odd243555 and yumi2391 have stolen Starway's "Lyoko Chibis" to enter into the contest.
Odd243555 is obviously not to keen in the upper story seeing as he's stolen art from just about every CL fanartist on DA and claimed their best works as his own. None of the styles match, which makes it obvious that he couldn't have drawn all of them (or one, for that matter) and clearly marks him as an art thief. I really wish I could find these people and let them know just how rude and stupid art theft really is to attempt.

I'm in. I haven't seen my art stolen yet, but I want to keep it from happening. Talk to the mods at CL.com too. They're just as mad about this sort of thing going on too. Just today they suggested to people to create a petition to get an admin that would actually go to the English forum and site. Right now the current one only seems to visit the French site and forum and completely ignore the other. We all seem to have a common intrest here, to get the CL.com admin to actually come and solve all our problems.

I've just read over this whole thing, and I have to say it is an atrocity. To me, stealing artwork (which I consider to be either actual artwork OR writing) is one of the most horrible crimes anyone can commit. It just sickens me to the very core, almost so much as I just want to convulse and get it out of me. The amount of time and effort that goes into things like that, not to mention the pride that you yourself has done it... that makes it sacred, at least to the artist, and plagiarism is an unspeakable act. I know I feel that way. I have never had any of my artwork stolen and I know if it did happen I would be so just filled over with a feeling of being cheated so much that words wouldn't even be able to describe it.
The people who do this type of thing are far too lazy to do anything themselves and have about the creative intuition of a field mouse, and the morals of one. Either they don't understand what it IS to have created a peice of artwork by never having done it themselves, or so incredibly foolish that they think that it's perfectly fine and even if it is wrong they'll get away with it anyway. And to do it while knowing that you are stealing from the artist is the lowest form of sleeziness.

here's a theft report, someone from CLTCG stole the "Lock and load baby" Jeremie Icon to put in his sig, there was no link, and I don't know wether or not he got permission from you, I promptly PMed Him asking him to remove it.

Thank goodness I found this thread! I just hit the main site to look at the fan art and I'd hate to say this to you mew but you got hit by yet ANOTHER art thieve. Someone is passing you're "I have to wear this?!" picture as your own and its really sickening to see such blatant dishonosty.

Art stealing is bad in itself but copying and pasting a person's story and basking in praise that was not earned is just horrible. I can only imagin the anger that I would experience if someone tried to steal my radioplays which are a my signature trademark as I'm the only one who makes audio productions about CL right now.
The theif long since stopped after I caught onto their scheme and the incident is pretty much over for me. However, my heart goes out to star, mew, chibi and other hard working artist that have to put up with this immature BS on a constant basis. Seeing your artwork being posted under another name is just a huge slap in the face and a total act of disrespect.
I was on the same thread with mew at the time when chibi-jen's artwork was being stolen and we both pointed it out. At first I thought this would be an isolated incident but with these recent events, I was proven DEAD wrong. The biggest problem is that our resources are rather limited in fighting back.

To true. Just yesterday I noticed that Sissi Delmas Lover's work had been stolen by someone named badger and was submited in the fan art contest on the main site. Also Odd Odd won the smaller art contest on the forun there by submiting some of Mews work.

What does deviantART consider to be Art Theft?
Copyright Infringement (aka "Art Theft" or "Ripping")
Current deviantART policy defines 'Art Theft' to be any situation where a user takes the original art, photography, or writing of another person (a 'third party') and then either misrepresents the original, unaltered work as one of their own creations or includes the work (either altered or unaltered) in a new image.
Generally speaking any submission which is directly built upon the existing work of another artist or photographer can be considered to be a case of art theft. These works may feature screenshots, official artwork from a video game, scans from an art book, artwork found on a website somewhere on the internet or a photograph of a famous person (just to name a few examples), but in every case the 'seed image' is the legal property of another artist. In many cases these 'seed images' are manipulated, colored over, blended with other images, and otherwise digitally worked over but none of this makes the use acceptable or allowed.
These submissions will be removed regardless of whether you have credited or linked back to the original source. Knowing where you ‘found’ the original image or knowing who created it or took the photo is not the same as actually having the legal permission to use it in your submission.

That's the incident I was talking about...that's the only piece (and the first time) I've had anything stolen art-wise. Like I said, I'm actually more amused than angry since this ding-dong stole from every CL fanartist there is...is he trying to get caught?!
In any case, that is indeed the biggest problem and why, DA (even with all of it's faults) at least looks out for its artists more than CL.com does. CL.com has no report desk, no help desk, and only one address to contact them by (that they don't always reply to). It's ridiculous, and it's getting really old and tiring...and out-of-hand (I'm willing to bet they're all emboldened by the fact that an art thief won last month).
At least in G-Force's case, it happened on a forum where the original artist could nail the thief...on the main site there's no way to contact these people to let them know precisely what you think of them stealing your work and few of them actually go to the Forums, so there's no way to point them out as fakes and thieves either. That's why I'm going to write that petition...signatures and watermarks just aren't going to cut it anymore. (Seeing as how the theif who won last month was named Alyssa while the piece she stole was clearly signed by a "Jennifer"...didn't anyone at that website find that fishy!?)

* slaps self* I have been/am guilty of using pictures from sites as an avatar. see the pic that I have currently. I don't own that, I don't even know where that comes from, but it probably belongs to someone and is apparently (at least by the definitions given here) stolen. I need to take some time and actually make my own avatar. *gets an idea* as for fanart that I like, I save it to my computer for my own personal enjoyment and never let it leave that area, is this okay? and if I show it to some buddies I show a notepad file with each file and the artist. I don't however enter art or writing contests with things I have not personally done myself. To avoid any art/writing theft of mine ( I have no art) I just let everything I do be in the free domain. of course, I don't have anything that I am so proud of that I would want my name on it. if any of that made sense let me know, and what should I do about my avatar? I am sorry that you guys have had your great work stolen.

Luckly, my English teacher was looking at the submissions and caught it. The guy got detention but still....But that's me...I feel so bad for you guys to have your great original pieces of art/writing be stolen...People now-a-days...I bet I'm a hypocrite as well but I don't do it as often and I give credit where credit deserves...

Um...I don't think he won. Chibi-Jen-Hen's pic of Yumi and Ulrich kissing won, for last month, I believe.
Plus, about the pic Badger submitted...that was the one with Jeremie and Aelita kissing, with text around it right? That really wasn't your art either. I remember telling you that that picture you'd used in the center of it wasn't yours to begin with. The art belonged to Son-Neko, not to you, which made that piece itself an art theft. So really, if Badger has won, the only one being cheated is Son-Neko, who is the original artist. That's why art theft has to stop. It's becoming too common.
I'm just about finished writing up a petition, which I am going to submit to that petition website after all. At the moment, it looks like the thieves are at it again, as it looks like Tsuyatsuya is being victimized now. I'm going to go double-check with her, but this honestly has to stop. It's past ridiculous to just being an overall irritation.

I've lost my touch with them, I refuse to make more, after I found out that Paradox took them and made his own. But, hey. I'm not the creator of the iPod avatar frenzy. Some of those aren't even mine. I only made the Jeremie, Yumi, Odd, Ulrich, and Kiwi ones. But thanks for the comment.
