Well, have you ever had a cold? "sniff", "sniff", etc. it's kind of like that. I'm sure that if you try it ( in the privacy fo your own home of course) you'll find it's not at all difficult!

oh yeah, that was in Season one, I remember. It happened because part of the band with the text we dub of of was covering the bottom of the characters face (it's a close up, too if I remember correctly), and since the "detector" had written ulrich on the band, I just did the line, and no one could see, not even the director, that it wasn't Ulrich who was supposed to be speaking! I love that kind of thing if it only happens once in a very blue moon

It seems funny to me that you're the first person who's asked that question! there are obviously alot of similarities in the ideas behind the Matirx and Code Lyoko, tho' when you think about it, their proposals are almost exactly opposite: in the matrix, the real world has the monsters controlling it and the Matrix is what people think of as reality, whereas in Code Lyoko there is a well defined line between the real and the virtual, and the characters live in a "normal" reality, and the virtual world is a strange one. They both go into the virtual world to fight, tho', and benefit from all sorts of programmable weapons and skills. If you've read the author william gibson , you'll know that it was he who invented the notion of cyberspace well before the movie Matrix was written, let alone produced.

Now, what would you say to those who consider Code Lyoko to be anime? My friends don't watch the show for a reason I don't know why (it's the coolest to me), and every time I talk about it in front of them they ask if I'm talking about "that French anime show" again.

I don't want to answer your question for her, but technically it -IS- a French anime. Anime meaning animation. If you mean anime as in the traditional Japanese anime that most of us think about, then it is not anime. But saying the phrase "French anime" with that meaning is kind of an oxymoron...

One of his short novels, Johnny Mneumonic, was turned into a not so great film of the same name starring... who else but Keanu Reeves. That collection of short stories is called Necromancer, i believe. A more recent novel, called Virtual Light, is set in San Francisco in 2005 ( he wrote in the 80's and early 90's). almost anything by him is good, and like Philip K Dick, another Sci-Fi visionary, he wrote about things that nobody had even dreamed of at the time, but which are actually happening now, like the Internet, for one! He's canadian.

thanx for answering that question. I guess I would have said the same thing, although I'm less articulate on the subject!
My question for Ulrich Stern is when they say "that French anime" are they more disparaging of the fact that it's French or the fact that (they think) it's anime?

It may be a little of both. I believe they once said they think Japanese cartoonists who live in France make the show, but I could be wrong. I'll see if I can find those books, they look really cool.

Something that I was curious about that David Gasman wrote about in his thread is the literary bible for the show. Have you seen this, and what is it exactly ( other than the obvious answer that I know)? is it like a three ring binder, or is it more of a actual book? if you have looked at it, how long is it?

the creators of the show were students at a famous Art School called "Les Gobelins", I believe. I'm almost positive they are all French. The animation ,now, is done in Asia, but the original work and design was created here in France.
