What OS do you run?

Postby Omega » Mon Feb 20, 2006 8:16 pm

Just wondering what all you folks out there run for your OS...

Personally, I run Windows XP, but that's only for the games. If more people made C&C style games for... the name you're about to see, I would TOTALY have this OS...

LINUX!!!!

Oh, if you are to much of a MicroSlave, it's black and white for TUX!!! w00t TUX!!!

Image

And also, you can't forget Rupert and Geeko!

Rupert for Ximian Linux.
Image
(I actually have that plushy ^^)

And here's Geeko for Suse Linux. (Suse is pronounced "Sue Sah" It's German, like Ulrich)

(Err... and the little one on top, have him, too. ^^)

Oh, and yes. I am a self-proclaimed geek. I have a hat that has the Intel logo on it, but says "Geek inside" made by Harvard Square.

One last thing.

FIREFOX is a link, just so ya know. If you can't download stuff or don't want it, don't click it. Really.

Windows XP. It bites, but I don't want to run Linux: too little stuff.

I have Mac at school and it's really growing on me. Much faster, smoother and easier to handle. And, with an Imac keyboard, you have USB mice!

Sure, thanks! :D

And I am surprised... no one runs Linux... hmm...
Or Mac, for that matter.
Weird.

WAAH-HIEW!

GO LINUX!

I got SuSe Linux novelle 9.2, and I'm gonna install Special edition Suse Linux 10.0 all by myself.
And mabey a subscription to the magazine.

BTW: There's two kinds of Linux, correct? Gnamoe and KDE. What do those Linux-ers use?

Personally, I like KDE. It's a bit more technical and gives me better controll.

Gnome is like a version of windows that covers everything up.

GNOME and KDE are both window managers. I use KDE more then GNOME but I have both installed.

Technically neither is a "type" of Linux. Partly because Linux is the kernel alone and partly because GNOME and KDE use a X Windows system that runs over the base system.

Why do so many people have XP?

Duh, I'm one to talk, we just upgraded our computer and completely rebuilt another with SuSe Linux 10.0 and Windows XP Beccause I can't run Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 on Win 98.

Microslaves... nice...

I'm sendin' this to my dad, He loves people making fun of Windows in the name of Linux!

No, Windows Sux, Mac Sux and is incredibly outdated... I didn't even know they had MACs anymore! I thought they were, like, fro the 80's or somethin'...

Linux pwns all because Windows are like the Surinam toad. Seriously... O'Reilly's Windows annoyances creature that represents the topic is a surinam toad, which is stubborn, disgusting, and dissapears in the lost murkiness only to spawn and reproduce in nasty ways. I have the pic.

Mac is outdated... i agree with that... but there are much much less viruses coded for Mac than windows and linux

Most servers are run on either linux or windows

do the math =)

Yes, but you're talking about all three. But I'm talking about two, win and linux. And in that one It's window's who's the sticky bug paper.

I run the latest version of Windows. Truthfully, (for all those who despise Windows for one reason or another) with the right anti-virus protection (Norton AntiVirus for me) and careful consideration on what you download, it isn't a bad OS. :)

I mostly use Windows XP Professional. I have the same reasons as Supersonic Master - Loaded with antivirus, antispyware, and space-freeing programs, It works extremely well. It rarely crashes. Windows is like a cat- Independant and leaves on you at the worst times, but treat it right, and it will stay by your side and help you through toughness. (Not the best metaphor, I'm aware. XD;;)

But I also use Linux and Macintosh. Linux works rather splendidly, and Macs are all fancy and shiny. ^^

(Yay, something for the whole family! :D)
I've found new things in life and have moved on. Sorry to anyone who cared about me and considered me a friend, but I'm gone.
