Sorry if this has been addressed, or should have been put in a different thread. But You all remeber "Uncharted Territory" right? Think of the scene right after Millie and Tamiya stick their tongues out at Sissi. Is it me, or is there a Boy in front of Aelita in line? I could be seeing things, but I don't think so.

Hmm, comparison with the Student Thumbnails on www.codelyoko.net show this to be Jean-Baptiste Pujol, a student in the same grade as Odd, Jeremie, Aelita and Ulrich. I'm assuming this is NOT a girl's name.

However, remember much of CL's animation is done in Hong Kong, the animators in question may have simply looked at the model sheets supplied by Moonscoop to choose who to draw and gotten confused by the masculine name 'Jean-Baptiste', possibly confusing it with the feminine 'Jean' - also his design is effeminate enough to support this misconception.

A similar character of ambiguous gender in design terms is Emmanuel Maillard in Yumi's grade (weirdly often seen taking classes with Odd & co a year below) - he's the 'heavy metal' fan who tried out as drummer in 'Seeing is Believing' - so there is a precedent for gender confusion.

In the student photos other characters with traits of both genders include Tristan Brossard, Bastien Roux, Thomas Jolivet, Yannick Piranet, Matthias Burel and so on and so forth - the animation style means that how long and in what style you wear you hair go very fair to determining your gender - so confusion can occur if you're not told what sex someone is.

Just my thoughts - nice discovery Starlight! :)

Not to mention extra class confusion, as seen with Sandra Dialo, who is supposedly is in the same grade as Milly and Tamiya but has been seen in the same class as Jeremie, Odd, and Ulrich, as well as seen walking out of class with Julian Xao. So they seem to have some confusion between all the secondary characters around.

Nice points Animenologist - I'd just like to add that I love having such a large cast of secondary characters, each with a name and an interesting, unique design, but it can lead to confusion when you give the actual work of animating it to someone who does not 'know' the characters as well as the person who designed them.
