Straight A's

Postby Ayugg405 » Mon Apr 10, 2006 12:08 am

Ok, problem. I know that if I make a big deal about this and stress so very hard and shtoof, I could go nuts. So here's the deal. I've been failing school for about five months now. I'm actually pretty smart, but just *very* lazy. My dad made me an offer. He said if I get straight A's for the last quarterly grading period, he's going to give me fifty bucks and he's going to take me to Six Flags Great Adventure for the next two Augusts following this school year. I know this desicion is easy to make, but I'm curious on what other people think about this. So, Poll it!
Oh crap, I found a body.......yum.......

i guess i know how you feel, i spend far more time on online games than doing homework, so it really annoys my teachers, who hate me, when i do well in tests.... my last maths teacher...

anyway, i think its a good incentive to work hard, (could pay a planetside subscription for a while) i'd take the offer....
(although it doesnt mean you have to try *too* hard does it)

I myself have the same problem! I'm 14, in the eigth grade, and I comprehend on an eleventh grade level. But my problem is I'm unorganized. And failing. Actually, technically I've been failing middle school, but w/e. What I'm doing about it is trying out oxford learning center, which is a system like Sylvan, but a little more advanced. They deal with students who are placed at lower grades than they should be, when they're only being held back by something the school can't fix. It's a program fresh from Great Britan, and wonderful! If you want, I could look up a location near you, though I'm sure it's only in the northeast now.
But then again, you're talking about Six Flags, and I think that's in the northeast...
Here's the link to locations, look around a bit!

I don't have th choice, no As, no computer, TV, phone, or life. You should try, considering there are loads of people who would kill to be in the position where you are, just being able to choose.

Yes! Take the offer! You're lucky you get to choose and be rewarded! Take the opportunity!
I hear voices...and they don't like you.

There are very few people in this world who truely scare me...and you're one of them.

Next time you have a thought, let it go.

I've made up my mind, don't confuse me with the facts.

I'd keeping being lazy. $50 isn't a whole lot of money, and I hate amusement parks anyway (I'm an old fogie! BLAH! :pbthbb: ). Good grades are vastly over-rated. :D

Take his offer, Tyler. You really are smart, and I know you can do it. Just focus, and keep thinking about all that fifty bucks can get you-- and how much fun you'll have at Six Flags! ^^
Don't bother sending me messages or anything, I'm not in charge of the site anymore.

Go for it. The thing with grades is that it's not really about how smart you are but more on how you apply the lessons your taught and show your teacher you overall understanding of the subject.

Like others have said before, take the offer, you're in a rather unique position to be actually rewarded for good grades. I come from a stereotypical Asian household where Bs are considered the work of the Devil. I remember my last report card from college in which I acced every single class I had but one and I remember getting an earful.

DO THIS! Quite nice offer, and what do you have to loose? NOTHING. If you fail, you will have, after all, better grades! And better grades are better than worse ones :D

I got best grades in my class, got 1st place in Computer Olympics for Gymnasiums in my region, so my father claimed to buy me everything I want related to learning. And he does...(his jaw dropped when I wanted a book on Japanese grammar).

yeah, but think of how that time spent actually trying could be spent... i mean, rather than homework you could gain a few battle ranks on PlanetSide... actually Planetside must be getting pretty popular, i've heard about 2 more people signing up to it in the last 12hours...
and if my ping is under 100 then im gonna play it now

Wow, you're pretty lucky. The only thing I could possibly hope to get from getting straight A's is the "privilege" of not being cruelly punished by my parents.

I think you should try hard to get better grades. Laziness can be a problem. I myself am very lazy, and because of that my grades have been dropping ever so slightly. Try to get better grades, but don't kill yourself if you mess up.
