Code Lyoko Vs. Yugioh, Digimon

Do you think that Code Lyoko will ever reach the "status" that both Yugioh and Digimon has? Why or Why Not?

Id like to see Code Lyoko go through the roof as far as merchandise and popularity, but im not sure that it will.

It'd be freakin' awesome if it did. But...there's something about Stu-Pi-Doh (thank you HIHIPAY.) that makes everybody love it. I don't get it!

Toy's, card games, video games *even though most of them suck.* Mainly anything that kids would want.

I believe CL will make it because of the story and the backround the characters have. People can say "Hey so and so is like me." Plus it's doesn't have anything to do with a card game. That's a plus in my book.

Ah, that makes me laugh.

I think CL has all the elements it needs to take off with a proper marketing push. I kinda hope it doesn't though. Hordes of show-worshipping eight-year-olds makes me feel old, and I'm not even twenty. Heck, I was only like sixteen when I was running the Yugioh League, and I still felt ancient.

I barely watch Stu-pi-doh, but Digimon I still watch. I think it couldn't possibly reach that level of popularity. There is alot of kids that like Japanese Anime more then anything else. I've seen people make fun of Lyoko, just because of their giant heads. It's got a lot of bad remarks by people.

Hey, they don't mind girls with cat ears and tails but, if they see someone with a giant head "OMG whoever watches this must be a total freak! That stuff is crazy!"

Not only that, they make fun of the voice acting... Which is kind of dumb, considering the VAs do all the acting on the spot, like sight reading in music. That's pretty darn good for "sight reading", if you ask me.

On topic, though, I don't really want it to become big as any mainstream anime... In the end, we'll just end up getting lots more n00bs that we need, really >_>; Also that's partly why I like CL, 'cause it's a small fandom...

Oh yeah, you should have been there for the Invader Zim community's response to newbies. I'm glad I was watching that one from a safe distance.

As for the CL voice acting, I never noticed anything particularly bad. I did notice on of Ulrich's put-downs to Sissi sucked, but I blamed that on the writers since it sounded like a totally un-natural line.

Ah, now here's a quandry I'm in.

I want to see Code: Lyoko continue to do well - we already know it does based on the sizable fanbase in multiple countries around the world. I also feel the show has the potential to become a phenomenon and most likely will when the merchendise campaign launches this year.

At the same time, I don't want to see the fanbase ruined by a collection of adulating pre-teens, at the risk of sounding like a snob. To me the show is partly great because of it's 'cult' status, and if the fandom gets swamped with new members who follow CL the same way as many followed Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-gi-oh etc, then everywhere might end up like the 'official' forums - the passionate fans drowned out by the swarming junior members (again, no disservice intended towards them).

For now though, I'm going to sit on the fence and see how things flow - CL is a great show and deserves the status of these lesser shows, but I don't want things to change too drastically as a result - as for what might eventually happen, only time will tell.

Heck yeah! . What was she like 8 in season 1. then 12 in season 2 and I was like "what the heck?! She's now OLDER than me?" 1 year older actually. Oh well, what happened, happened.

I still don't think that CL will reach that standard now. Too much popular stuff is around. If Code Lyoko was ever on the Fox Box (and I hope never ever! Fox Box cuts too much stuff out, and butchers everything.) Then It would proboly be more popular.

Yeah, but I doubt CL will actually reach the standards of those shows. Would be nice though. Kids today like more Japanese stuff than French. Unless it's French Frys. They seem to like that alot.

I'm regretted to say, The Winx Club is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Drop Bratz and bring back Mew Mew Power though. Bratz is everything that is wrong with the femal population personafied on TV.

Should I move this to General Discussion? It seems this is more about general anime chat than actual CL discussion, even though the original post did start it off about CL. What does everyone else think? ^_^
