I don't know about an essay... but here's my two cents.
Jeremie is *not* a nerd. He's shy. While he may be smart and bookish, he's shown on numerous occasions that he will do anything to protect his friends and Aelita. He prefers books and computers to people because, let's face it. He's thirteen and he has a near-perfect grade average and an IQ probably in the 140s (120 and up means you are very, very smart). He thinks that computer code and math problems are easier to deal with than people, because they treat geniuses differently.
His relationship with Aelita is a very good thing, because they balance each other out. Both of them are very smart, but Aelita is happy and outgoing. She makes Jeremie have a life, basically. Their personalities clash at times, but that's mostly because of Aelita's savior complex and Jeremie's protectiveness. However, he really does love her, and those two will probably stay together.

I would define Jeremie under the made up classification of Nerdius Obsesserendus, which I made up because it sounds cool. Using careful fossil records, we can trace his lineage all the way back the the first Gnerds of the 1940s. Educate yourself on the Gnerd:

Of course, by now he's transcended that.
Now, this is not to say that he's in any way similar to the classification Sapiens Nerdius Gameraticus*, nor is he in any way similar to the more typical Nerdicus Nerdicus Sapiens. His closest relatives today are the Nerdius Coderaticus, which is where he get's his 1337 h4x0r skillz.
*-Not, as of yet, 100% considered a species of Nerd; the general consensus is that a nerd can be a gamer, but a gamer isn't neccessarily a nerd.
Now, as a CHARACTER:
Most definitely he is stubborn, and questioning, but, on the other side of the coin, he's been able to keep the secret of Lyoko for longer than probably most of the rest of the gang (discluding Aelita and Mr. Hopper, of course). He can also be deeply caring of people, as displayed by his love for Aelita. One way you could see it as, is that you can trust him, but unless you're part of the original gang, he will never completely trust you.
We've also seen he has a tendancy to rush into things, such as materializing Aelita. He had the means, he had the opportunity, he had the power, so why not do it? Well, because officially, Aelita doesn't exist, as Yumi pointed out. This also means that because of his tendancy to rush, he often doesn't figure out plans entirely through before pressing the two keys in Nevada**
**-Is reference to U.S. Nuke Silos, they need the consent of two users to launch, both of which turn two keys.
Also, his stubbornness has caused him to push himself to his very limits without telling anyone, thus causing him pain.
I'll add more later, once I know exactly what episodes I'm reffering to (don't pause to blurt them out).

Oooo...I'm not good with these kinds of threads. I tried to go to XANADU...I got halfway down the first page before I went insane. Such is the sad fate I succombed to.
Don't even mention Let's Talk Tech...*shudders* You guys do it all you want, it's not for me.
But I'll try this.
Lesee...Jeremie. I think he's trying to be made out by the creators to fit the stereotype of 'nerd' (if he wasn't, he wouldn't have glasses, or a midpubescent voice). However, as all humans do, he does transcend stereotype-his character allows for variable. I think.
On another point- in the manner of Robin to Slade in TT, Jeremie's work can often become an obsession, to the point of alienation of friends as seen in Temptation (y'know what's funny? The Slade obsession complex in TT has at least 3,000 fanfictions on it, and the XANA obsession complex maybe one or two.). And like Robin, this obsession can cloud judgement, causing him to make careless mistakes one would not expect him to make. This makes him human-nobody is perfect, we all have a weakness.
And...I can't think of any more rambling. Wow.

This isn't about Jeremie, but about Yumi, and in the end this may have nothing to do with anyting at all and I'm just thinking too hard xD; But anyway.
Sometimes, when a Japansese person speaks slowly, they'll break their sentences up and end each segment on a higher note... I can't really explain it, but take the sentence "Kumiko is at school." In Japanese that's "Kumiko wa gakkou ni imasu." What they'll sometimes do is take each part and then end it on a high note, start back down, end the second part on a high note, then end on a lower note. Does that make sense...? It'd be like "Kumiko wa^ [pause] gakkou ni^ [pause] imasu.v" If that doesn't make sense I'll try to do like a voice sample...

There must be an unwritten law for television shows that there must be a tech head/genius that serves the side of good. One look at Jeremie, and you can guess in your sleep what role he’s going to fulfill in the show. Wearing his oval shaped glasses and blue turtleneck sweater, Jeremie does not appear to be the type who’s going to be winning any sports contests anytime soon but that’s ok as he has many other qualities that make up for this.
It is almost impossible for one to go through their school years and not encounter the snooty whiz kid who behaves in a manner like Mandark from Dexter’s Laboratory; showcasing a superior attitude and making you feel like the mental equivalent of a hamster. Jeremie does no such things. He is kind hearted and always willing to help his friends out and views his intelligence as just another part of him and does not flaunt it.
In a strange sense, one can view Jeremie as XANA’s most deadly foe. Such a comparison seems to be unwarranted due to his characterization on the show and his physical condition. He can’t destroy monsters on Lyoko like the others nor can he really fend off a possessed human being but one must look beyond these shortcomings to see Jeremie’s true strengths as a person. Jeremie alone is the deciding factor in the Lyoko group’s war with XANA With the right set of commands Aelita can be purged of her virus and the evil computer program can be shut down for good. This is where the real war is fought.
Sadly there are a few fans of the show who just see Jeremie as a computer geek and do not recognize his courage and determination. The fate of the world and Aelita’s existence on Earth rests on his shoulders as he has to race against the clock before XANA gets too strong to be contained. Jeremie spent countless nights and mornings toiling away at his computer for Aelita’s materialization program only to do so again for her anti-virus. XANA wishes to stop the young genius every which way he can and on many occasions has tried to end the boy’s life prematurely so that his power can go unchallenged. An average person would be reduced to a paranoid mental mess, more concerned with staying alive after coming so close to death so many times. However, Jeremie just sees these experiences as just yet another obstacle to overcome.
In Taoism, Jeremie represents the steel element; always determined and very stubborn when it comes to achieving one’s goal. Jeremie’s intentions for fighting XANA are indeed noble. No glory, power or riches can be obtained with his enemy’s destruction for himself. Much like Wesley from “The Princess Brideâ€

well actually I'mm going to have to say that jeremie's IQ is somewhere above 150, because my IQ is 132 and I can't program hardly at all (except HTML) so I say like 162 or thereabouts

In my mind, Jeremie was, and will always be, the stubborn know-it-all hacker.
Besides, I've never known him to be able to cheer up someone emotionally. That's Odd's job.

I think Ulrich in "LogBook" would disagree with you. Jeremie not only (with a distraction from Odd) got Ulrich to tell him what was going on with Sissi but was subsequently able to reassure him that they'd help to set things right. Ulrich clearly was feeling better after that scene. I'd say that's a prime example of Jeremie cheering someone up. "False Start" has some rather nice examples too.

ok well programming doesn't nescessarily require intelligence however, being able to teach yourself how to write quantum algorithms <lame> well that's a quantum leap </lame> but it would re equire a lot of knoledge aquirement abilities and that generally signifies intelligence, and keep in mind how realistic kiwi 2 was, and that was all an object oriented programming AI, and that's pretty impressive, as well as the wlk patterns, he is the original sort of geek (geek originally was an acronym General Electrical and Engineering Knowledge) ok that's my shpeal

Jeremie not only (with a distraction from Odd) got Ulrich to tell him what was going on with Sissi but was subsequently able to reassure him that they'd help to set things right. Ulrich clearly was feeling better after that scene. I'd say that's a prime example of Jeremie cheering someone up. "False Start" has some rather nice examples too. Happy

Odd does some stupid stuff, but that hardly justifies calling him a jerk. Maybe to Sissi... but he's awfully nice to Milly and Tamiya when he could just brush them off as annoying underclassmen. And he was more forgiving in regards to Ulrich's "situation" in Zero Gravity Zone than Jeremie was, though that doesn't make Jeremie a jerk either.
