That's not really true, Oddsgrlfriend. Especially in scholastic social situations, a good fight can fix a lot. I've been in a lot of very serious fights and once I got done with my opponent, we never had problems again. Though nobody likes violance and everyone wants this to be a peaceful world, every now and then something arises where you have to "get dirty with the people spreading the dirt."

Actually, to me that doesn't sound true either. Violence may 'work' for some people, but, from what I've seen, it's only a temporary fix...until that person either gets strong enough to get payback, or until they can find someone who is stronger and do that for them. It's not a permanent fix, at least in my own experience.

I agree with you, Oddsgrlfriend. Violence only leads to more violence in the end and it's certainly not the answer (neither is changing yourself to please someone else for that matter). What is, is going for help, letting adults handle it (depending on ones age) or the authorities. As they used to say on Doug, "Show me a person who resorts to violence, and I'll show you a person who's run out of good ideas." ^^ I miss that show...classic nick toon... ^_^

not to sound contrary, but fighting back often does work, it's not so much the violence as showing them that you are willing to stand up for yourself, telling an adult is just opening yourself up to criticism, that will get you bullied even more, but that's just in my experience, so, use your best judgement
A lot of member have sigs that say"I'm a boy", or "I'm a girl", I refuse to join this trend.

That's the common misconception for me really, that asking for help just makes you look weak or makes you more open to criticism. One should never ever be afraid to ask for help when it's needed...and there are always going to be people who love and care about you that will want to help you, and would want to know if you're being hurt. Friends, family, teachers...it won't matter.

There's fighting back (as in physically attacking the person) and then there's fighting back in which one stands up for oneself and takes responsibility...whether that means going for help when it's obvious that it's needed or simply persevering and continuing being the person one is on the inside and ignoring the peanut gallery that's trying to get your goat.

But fighting back (the physical one) really doesn't solve anything...plus it gets you into more trouble usually, not just with the people you attacked, but also the people who could have helped you (teachers, other school staff) and will likely disappoint or concern those that care about you (family, friends).

I just don't feel that fighting is the answer...and I really don't agree with encouraging violence. There's enough of it in this world as it is.

This is just my own opinion though and my own advice on this particular situation. Nothing more. ^^

I must say, Mewberries, I like the way you write... and you're absolutely right, there's too much violence in this world already, the least thing we need is more of it.

I'd agreeing with odsgrfriend here. Violence is never the answer.. I went through the same problem. I spend longer on my pc than I'm in school. And the worst of all, I have NO mates for the last couple of years. And even worse, I still get bullied. I haven't left the house without any one whatoever lately. My younger brother, beat up a kid a year older than him. He moved 1 week later. I think starting a new life, of turn it back to the way before. I hope you find this useful.

Oh, and i spend up to 9hours a day on my pc ;) not that big-a deal

Don't let the forums be your whole life. It may seem good now but you're only asking for trouble if your life is anything online.

Hmmm...that is a bit of dilemma. I'm assuming you can't really do alot of things outside...you did say that your neighborhood isn't very safe, didn't you? That would make it a bit tough.

Um, how about volunteering at a local community center or SPCA (depending on your interests)? As silly as it may sound, volunteer work can be alot of fun. You meet alot of people that you can become friends with and you're helping yourself and/or others (depending on the project or center you join).

You're interested in drawing manga, and you're 16 right? Why not inquire about a part time job at a community center as an art specialist and teach kids to draw manga? That's helpful, you're doing something you like to do (draw manga) and...it looks good on your resume. :D

How old are you? Because if you're bored and have no money, get a job. I'm trying to get one this summer so that I have something to do and a little bit of money for myself. It will really help you to feel like you have a purpose to get up and go to work everyday; even moreso if you like the job you get.
