That's not really true, Oddsgrlfriend. Especially in scholastic social situations, a good fight can fix a lot. I've been in a lot of very serious fights and once I got done with my opponent, we never had problems again. Though nobody likes violance and everyone wants this to be a peaceful world, every now and then something arises where you have to "get dirty with the people spreading the dirt."
Actually, to me that doesn't sound true either. Violence may 'work' for some people, but, from what I've seen, it's only a temporary fix...until that person either gets strong enough to get payback, or until they can find someone who is stronger and do that for them. It's not a permanent fix, at least in my own experience.
I agree with you, Oddsgrlfriend. Violence only leads to more violence in the end and it's certainly not the answer (neither is changing yourself to please someone else for that matter). What is, is going for help, letting adults handle it (depending on ones age) or the authorities. As they used to say on Doug, "Show me a person who resorts to violence, and I'll show you a person who's run out of good ideas." ^^ I miss that show...classic nick toon... ^_^
