It's an animation too like any other, and subtle use is they key to getting the most mileage out of it, I belive.

To me I think it's just the animators slacking off. What I mean by Sliding is like the character running animation is looping over and over again, but the character looks like s/he is shrinking or growing, to make it as though s/he is running away or to us. This "Motion" really bothers me.

I don't think I've ever seen that happen in Code Lyoko though...I'd imagine their editors would catch something like that. O.o
