Oh, yeah. I've noticed that, it looks more like the real world now. You know, they do more camera movements...lots more shifting, sliding, zooming...! I love it!

Yup...I'm scared of those 3D doors...Soon the real world will all be in 3D and we won't be able to tell what's Lyoko and whats the real world!

Yes, I noticed this at the recording session - it's used generally to add more fluidity to moving objects, such as swinging doors or moving backgrounds when a person is running or in a vehicle.

Also note it's use yesterday to enable long panning shots - i.e. Ulrich at the crossroads in the forest - as he walks off the camera moves through the environment to Willaim following him.

I heard that they're doing that 'cause supposedly X.A.N.A.'s trying to turn earth onto virtual reality, like lyoko. Supposidly they're doing that so we slowly get used to the 3d-ishness...then it gets worse...and worse...and then boom. It's like Lyoko.

Well, when I saw the doors I said "Show-offs..."

Either they've got a lot of money, and it has nowhere to go..:D Or their just doing that for their own pleasure.

I also said to myself one day that they probably have fun with CodeLyoko. I'm sure they've had animation bloopers, (I saw in the VA thing Matt smacked somebody in the face....) and all kinds of bloopers.

I would have fun if I went to the studio...

Well I'm off to school...Bye!

I've actually seen some things that hint they've been using 3d for a while there, but I think now they either have a better budget, or are just taking advantage of what hey have (shot's that I think have always been 3d are ones like the elevator going down and some of the halls.) They are just using some type off toon render or textures of the same type as used for the characters and other settings.
UNBANNABLE!

Some Might remember me as Chupathingy form TvTome many a year ago

From Red VS Blue Episode 2

Sarge: Hey Simmons, what’s the name of the Mexican lizard, eats all the goats?
Simmons: That would be the Chupacabra Sir.
Sarge: Hey Griff, Chupathingy, I like it. Got a ring to it.

wartonchan's wrong... it's not a texture being zoomed out on, either, some parts of the building are revealed as the thing pans out.

Also, from Garage Kids,

To be honest, the CGish sliding can be a bit distracting. It's been used seamlessly pretty well sometiems, (I didn't even notice it on the Ulrich and William shot that was mentioned, this is good.) On other occasions though, it seems like they panned across a shot just to point out that 'hey, we're sliding the camera frame now.'

It's an animation tool like any other, and subtle use is they key to getting the most mileage out of it, I belive.

Note the excellent use in 'Aelita' though - the CGI allowed the camera to follow the kids as they walked through the campus, a shot not usually possible, and it looked d*mn good :)

Well. I have noticed alot that in the past 6 years there has been a breakthrough in people moving in cartoons. I like to call it the "Sliding Motion".

To me I think it's just the animators slacking off. What I mean by Sliding is like the character running animation is looping over and over again, but the character looks like s/he is shrinking or growing, to make it as though s/he is running away or to us. This "Motion" really bothers me.

Erm...in defense of the animators, there is no such thing as "slacking off" in the animation world (except when the motions look distinctly choppy and non-coherent).

Honestly, animation is so pain-staking and tedious at times that animators have to use tricks like "loops" in order to get things finished before the generation they're catering to hits college. X) Using loops is alot easier then animating the character going through a run cycle again and again and again, which also has the animator run the risk of an inconsistent walk, and therefore a lower quality animation overall.

Remember, even to create a loop, they still had to draw whatever number of frames were required to make that "loop"...and it's usually quite a decent amount of drawings. O_o

I don't think I've ever seen that happen in Code Lyoko though...I'd imagine their editors would catch something like that. O.o

Well, I was talking about the animation in general. It's used in other shows. I've seen it really badly done. Maybe that's why I don't like it. It's well done in CL though. I can live with that.
