Ooo, AmericanLyokoTeam, I edited the picture links into regular links...they were kind of stretching out the forum page. ^^;

And thanks goes to Sissi for looking teenagerish for a change! XD

The badge of Jim's new outfit kinda unnerves me. :/

Bah, I didn't see a reason to update the "real world" clothes. I mean, unless they regularly changed clothes throughout the bulk of the show, previously, all this does is add a jarring note in something that had been familiar to us up to now. How would we feel if Mickey Mouse ditched the red shorts and yellow shoes in favor of something different? It'd throw our conception of the character out of wack, and that's what happened with the Lyoko kids.

I like Ulrich and Yumi's new outfits, though. I think the great majority of us agree on that point. Jeremie would have been okay if they didn't do those horrible stripes on his pants, or better yet, if he were the only character whose 2D outfit changed. (I mean, the others get 3D make-overs, so Jeremie should have had one too, I guess) But Odd and Aelita's just plain sucked. Odd's outfit clashed colors so much, it's not funny anymore, it's just obnoxious to look at. And Aelita? Just who designed her new wardrobe, Quasimodo? She looks Amish or something in that dark dress! I say, just leave the old outfit. That one was perfect. Just leave it alone, she looked adorable in it. Or, if they insist in change, give her the clothes she wore in the real world in Season 1. They were okay too, but not as much as the pink dress we know and love.

While agree that changing the outfits was kinda stupid, even though they did change them, they didn't do that bad of a job on them. Well, besides Jeremie of course. Ulrich looks awesome, and so does Odd. Yumi....I can't say anything bad about it. Aelita, she looks good wearing old-fashioned clothes, but her old clothes were better. I like them, but I liked the old ones better.

^^; Nobody seemed to mind Mickey Mouse trading in said outfit in Fantasia for a wizard's cloak and hat...if anything, that's become his second most-recognised outfit.

But, more to the point, speaking from an animator's and designer's point of view...drawing the same outfit over and over again can get very very dull. Granted, changing the outfits every episode (or "day" within the show) would be far trickier, but a change of pace is sometimes nice when one is an animator.

Planet Cool wrote:But Odd and Aelita's just plain sucked. Odd's outfit clashed colors so much, it's not funny anymore, it's just obnoxious to look at.

...Hasn't Odd's outfit always clashed color-wise? Purple and highlighter pink...with yellow? ^^; Granted we're used to it now but...

Again, Tania Palumbo is the designer for the outfits, past, present, and any future ones.

Aelita does not look Amish. The Amish (particularly Amish women) do not wear purple. Menonites (who are often confused with the Amish), wear a variety of colors, but I can't remember if Aelita's dress is one of those colors. I don't think it is. ^^;

At any rate, in my opinion, she simply looks conservative. It's not her best look, but then again, the last time she got an outfit change everyone raised a ruckus...and then got used to it and started liking it.

...Somehow I foresee the same (or something similar) happening with these outfits as well. *sweatdrops*

Yeah. I used to think her old dress was a hobo suit. (This one kinda qualifies better as one, but...yeh.)

I think they'll grow on us, like you said. Like I might've said somewhere else, I'm looking forward to a new William outfit. *drool*

XDXD Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if they change William's.

Unless, they cheat and go with the "We can't, he's a clone and Jeremie can't program a new outfit for him because of that," idea. XD; That would be a bit of a bummer. ^^;

I was joking about the Quasimodo thing. ;)

But about the Amish / Menonite thing, thank you for correcting me. I guess I got the words mixed up. I just meant to say that her dress reminds me of the dresses worn by some Menonite women I have seen. Anyway, since Aelita is such a tech-savvy modern girl, a look like that really doesn't suit her. Besides, it makes her look... submissive. That, added to the fact that it some cases Jeremie has behaved in a highly domineering manner toward her, (not too often, and he usually redeems himself rather quickly, but still) gives me a horrible feeling. I really care for Aelita.

Eh...I wouldn't worry too much about that. Personally, I don't judge a person's character by their wardrobe...and even in terms of animation and design, an outfit isn't the "be all end all" for a character. So...even though she's dressing in what might to some look like a "submissive" way (although, in that case...what would be a "dominant" look? ^^; ), it's probably not going to have any effect on her character whatsoever.

Especially since she's now captain of the Skid...that puts her in a much higher position of control all things considered. *nods*

People still run at 640x480?

Seriously though, I'm only at 1024x768 and it looked fine to me, what resolution were you running at that it was stretching the thing out? I guess you could make a minor case for 800x600, I could see resizing down 50-100 pixels to fit that, but if its a lower yet or windowed thing you're going for, I'll just leave 'em as links.

I have a rather large resolution as well...however, your pictures were stretching the page horizontally.

...If the page suddenly needs a sideways scroll bar, that tends to mean that the image is too large. ^^;

really liked Aelita's old outfit. I never considered her old clothes to be a hobo suit, though they were very simple. Her new one makes me think of Zoolander's "Derelicte" campaign. Oh why, Aelita? I bet that's CN interfering again. They want to cover up anything pretty with big, ugly clothes.
I didn't notice that Odd had red shoes now, but I can't imagine how that would look good on anybody.
As for Jeremie, I absolutley hate his new outfit. I don't mind his shirt being brown so much, but the collar... what the heck? It looks way too big. And... bright green-blue stripes on brown pants? That's just sic in a fashion sort of way.
Ulrich looks like Ahnuld or Rambo now with the GI surplus look, but I'll get used to it.
I thought it looked like the staff got new clothes, too. Did Jim and Delmas look slightly different to anyone else?

You can sort of get a feel for everybody but Yumi here.

:omg: What the hell are they wearing? o_O

Sissi's clothes would look better on Aelita. Just saying.

Before now I didn't even know there were multiple skins. This avalanche one indeed seems to project a fixed width middle leading to unpleasent stretching in any resolution.

Also, I was suggesting literal courses of action, and the default was just to leave the change, you'll notice. Don't worry, I'm not the type to get bent out of shape over a little thing like that.

In my (fairly inconsiquential) opinion, Ulrich looks slightly better, Yumi looks about the same, Odd looks creepy and Aelita reminds me of Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prarie

I asked Aelita on that "ask Aelita" page if she liked her new outfit more than the old one.

And she said, "Don't make me laugh! Of course not!"

Ah, good old Aelita. :D That sure takes a weight off my mind!

Ok, here's my little rant...
Jeremie- Ok, if the pants just lost the blue streak and were actual pants, his outfit would be OK
Odd- Love his outfit, except for the red shoes (I miss the yellow)
Aelita- Her outfit is OK, but its so formal! I mean, it's something meant for picture day!
Ulrich- the popped collar kinda annoys me, but overall, his outfit's good
Yumi- Maybe new shoes, but her outfit wins
Sissi- 10 times better than her old outfit (although, I personally think it would look better on Aelita) so happy she got rid of the headband
Nicolas- 100 times better than his old outfit (I mean, what was UP with the short shorts?)
Herve- Big thumbs down...he looks even nerdier than before
Mr. Delmas- personally, his suit and tie is better than his jacket (but at least now he looks more like a dad)
Jim- His outfit creeps me out...I liked his old one better

ok...I think that's everyone.

Rant is now over :D
