JesusFreak wrote:That may very well be, but what I believe AngelBolt was getting at was to show some respect for other cultures and religions. I felt a little testy when you mentioned that spirit mediums received their power through the devil--I've never heard of any serious spirit medium saying they get their abilities from Satan. The only ones who you hear doing that are those stupid kids who deliberately do so just to strike out against society or something.
Nevertheless, I find astrology (and anything dealing with the supernatural) quite interesting, but I wouldn't exactly follow it myself. I've met one spirit medium before who really shocked me. It probably sounds like a load of crock, but anyways--she sat me down and pressed her index and middle finger perpendicular to my palm. I don't know if it was simply because my hands were restless or something, but it began to warm up and feel numb.
She mentioned that there was something bothering me about my grandmother. She was right; when I was much younger, she did get a little funny with me. She couldn't specify which grandmother (my mother's or my father's), or what she did to me, but she did pick something up. I was about 9 at the time or so; I was too afraid to tell my parents in fear of what kind of chaos it'd create between my parents, so I lied in case she told them, and told her nothing came to mind.
That's really it, and the only one I can personally attest to. Another time, she visited us personally. We mainly got in touch with her for my brother, but the "palm readings", if you will, was just something we did on the side when Chris wasn't ready. Nevertheless, she was with my mother, and told her that "a parade of angels" appeared. My mother said that when she put her hand up, it was very hot, but I guess she was too stunned to call me, so I can't vouch for that event personally. I do think it happened, though.
So. I don't think all spirit mediums use the devil, and they certainly are helpful. Solomon J. Wickey is a healer who do similar things. Google him and do a bit of research; they aren't making it up. Ever since we took Chris (who has autism) to Indiana to visit Solomon, Chris has improved tremendously. I'd be hard pressed to accept that he uses Satan for such a purpose, but then again, he might not fit all of the criteria for a spirit medium, and I really don't define him as one either.
Edit: And the only reason why I mentioned that bit about my grandmother was because, I felt, saying "She knew about private information" would weaken my entire post. I'm not trying to earn sympathy, but get the point across.
The Bible says that spiritual powercomes from either Satan or God. Ak the mediums where there power comes from. Granted, I doubt they know they are using the power of Beelzebub (another name for Satan), but if it doesn't come from God (I.e: They don't pray, they use incantations, etc) It's from the devil. plain and simple.
Ehhh I'm not fond of the idea of Satan having any power at all.
