Waldo (yes, they use Franz's real name) and Anthea were working on Project Carthage (yes, finally, the mysterious Carthage is coming out of the closet) as long ago as 1985. I'd suspected for some time that Anthea had some technical ability of her own, and this seems to confirm it.
In that year, when Aelita was aged three (confirming she was born in 1982), Waldo and Anthea discovered their work for Carthage would be weaponised, and went on the run. While Waldo and Aelita got away, Anthea was captured by agents of the Green Pheonix...
THE MEN IN BLACK WERE NOT GOVERNMENT AGENTS! THEY WERE TERRORISTS!
Under the false name of Franz Hopper, Waldo taught at Kadic Academy while secretly constructing the supercomputer in the factory, and building Lyoko as an 'antidote' to Carthage. However, in 1994, the Green Pheonix traced Waldo, forcing him and Aelita 'underground', into the supercomputer.
This, FINALLY, gives us a proper timeline, and while there's little here that we didn't already know/guess-at, there are hints and twists that are beginning to excite me
The description of Lyoko as an 'antidote to Carthage' also intrigues me. We'd always assumed Carthage was a design-beureau, but now it sounds like it was the codename for what they created - and if Lyoko was to 'destroy' Carthage, maybe Waldo intended his virtual world as a staging-ground for an attack against his former creation, just like how Jeremy ultimately used Lyoko to destroy XANA

This website also gives a small sample of the book, translated by myself;
The children approached the table: there was a motorcycle helmet with a strange apparatus installed in place of the visor, and gloves that were connected by wires to the computer unit. Next to it they saw some yellow keyboards that had to be at least twenty years old, and a huge monitor that had to have weighed a ton
"Wait a second," Yumi said, "this, and a prototype of the supercomputer." She fixed her eyes on Ulrich, "you're joking? You're saying that this place is an access to Lyoko?"
"Not quite. Perhaps its only a copy of Lyoko. Maybe the correct technical term would be a replica."
Those gloves and helmet are fascinating - it's clearly a virtual-reality headset that MUST have been the precursor to the scanners!
Hope this keeps the juices flowing, and having translated that one paragraph, I'm feeling a little more confident at the prospect of trying to translate the entire book-series, though it would be a massive undertaking...

Great job TB. You are extremely lucky to have gone on that journey.
My initital reaction, about halfway through watching it, (I started at Part 1A and watched the opening and dedication last... didn't see them) was to tell you that your videos had... well... let's compare to my efforts to a giant fire. My initial reaction was to tell you the videos had basically done the equivalent of adding a canister of gasoline to that fire.
After watching the entire thing, lets just say that the oil wells of the middle east are ablaze.
________
Also, because I know I'll probably get some long chastisement about that... let me make it perfectly clear that I am going about whatever I am doing in a completely sophisticated way. I am not annoying anyone. I have only emailed Taffy and/or MoonScoop about two times, and both letters were thought out and polite.
I have no intention on aggrivating anyone.

Should we send our spoilers to them, or tell them about the possible fanslation? It would make them happy...

No need - in their thread for the Quadrilogy, I discovered that one of their moderators likes to lurk here and translate any information we find, as indeed, we do with any they find. He's also found out about the fanslation proposal and is proposing on his end that our two communities work together on this - I am now in the process of entering communications with him

Which is odd considering CL was shuffled around 3 networks in Italy (Disney Channel, then Rai 2, then Cartoon Network), and to my knowledge only have seen the 1st season so far. -shrug-

I think Carth was refferring to a French poll.
Don't need to tell me, i was thinging in registered since few days. ^^Carth wrote:Tell him he's free to come and post if he knows any English...

If you go to the bottom right of that page, there is a yellow box with arrows on either side, scroll through until you see "Les Heroes" CL should be on #1. Click on it. Find CL in the options and click, and you will have voted. You can vote once per day.
A bunch of CL fans, both in America and France, including myself, have been voting daily in a struggle to get CL to the #1 spot and we've succeeded.
Apparently, it's bringing CL back to France.
Now only if we could bring that popularity back to English speaking nations *begins to plot*
