How the *bleep*ing *bleep* did I not see this last night!?
Everything makes sense now! Project Carthage, the Men in Black, everything. Teebs, forget what Carth said a few posts before. You don't need to translate it, as you are already a god. From here on out, TB3 shall be known as God.

God, you are awesome. Thank you for this news.

And Searching (and God, maybe), the population that likes CL might be higher than we think. The Pokémon hack I'm working on has actually been praised in concept (I'm replacing the Pokémon of the evil team with XANA's monsters; all are non-obtainable), because many people liked CL when it aired, but fell out of it because of long waits between seasons or something else. So we're not alone.

A tip o' the hat and a hearty round of applause for <s>TB3</s> God, for His infinite kindness in getting all this magnificent info to us. I wasn't too excited about this because my hopes for getting the books were low, but since we keep getting lip service about the books being released internationally, even if it's on shaky grounds, I'm feeling a little better. Regarding the Men in Black, I don't think they're terrorists so much as they're a sort of "rogue cell" or something like that... I'm getting a "not entirely accurately translated" vibe from this. As for Aelita's birthyear, it feels weird to know that she's been older than me all this time, when we'd thought of her for so long as a little girl!

But be honest here, fellas. Weren't you a little relieved when you found out she was legal? Wasn't it like, "Whew, my sick obsession isn't quite as sick as I thought?" I know! It was totally like that!

Tantalizing... here's hoping more materializes. A fanslation of the books would be okay, but an official release, if it sells, would be a lot more motivating of further story.
(yeah, the cool links in my old sig died. :( A few nerdy newish projects are here. )

I am in the business of miracles TB3. I'll see what I can do.

Though I might need to be a bit more strict with my helpers *cracks whip*.
______

Hopefully, the "cycle" as I call it, will come around again soon and publishers will be wanting the novels.

The "Cycle" as I call it, is when they will show a series, take it off for a while, then bring it back.

Like, for instance... Jackie Chan Adventures on Disney (I'm just going off the top of my head). They had that on, then took it off for a few years. Then they put it back on again.

Scooby Doo... they played it, took it off, put it back, took it off, etc.

CN had it's show "Mucha Lucha". After it's original airing, it went off. But when Nickelodeon released the show "El Tigre", CN responded by putting "Mucha Lucha" back on to compete.

So... hopefully CL will turn up in the cycle again soon.

Until then I only keep using my influence in the TV rating industry to tip the scales in CL's favor.

I predict it will return into the cycle about the release time of CL: Reloaded.

Because... if they release CL reloaded after they've caught a lot of new fans with re-airings of CL, then it's going to make a lot more money, with CL back on the air, American publishers will be vying for the rights to the books...

It all fits into place and all the involved parties profit considerably.

Btw, MTV was fun. They basically had us pretend to work while they filmed us.

The cameraman actually asked if we were homeless (jokingly) because we would never leave... they actually had us stage a fake exit scene... which was funny. As we "left" they stalked us.

Now to go work some more miracles... and *cracks whip* have a <s>threatening-session</s> talk with my workers.

I wish you luck TB!

TB3 wrote:On a more positive note, I managed to find an italian website that gives us some more information on the backstory

http://www.fantascienza.com/magazine/no ... enza-nome/

Waldo (yes, they use Franz's real name) and Anthea were working on Project Carthage (yes, finally, the mysterious Carthage is coming out of the closet) as long ago as 1985. I'd suspected for some time that Anthea had some technical ability of her own, and this seems to confirm it.

In that year, when Aelita was aged three (confirming she was born in 1982), Waldo and Anthea discovered their work for Carthage would be weaponised, and went on the run. While Waldo and Aelita got away, Anthea was captured by agents of the Green Pheonix...

THE MEN IN BLACK WERE NOT GOVERNMENT AGENTS! THEY WERE TERRORISTS!

Under the false name of Franz Hopper, Waldo taught at Kadic Academy while secretly constructing the supercomputer in the factory, and building Lyoko as an 'antidote' to Carthage. However, in 1994, the Green Pheonix traced Waldo, forcing him and Aelita 'underground', into the supercomputer.

This, FINALLY, gives us a proper timeline, and while there's little here that we didn't already know/guess-at, there are hints and twists that are beginning to excite me

The description of Lyoko as an 'antidote to Carthage' also intrigues me. We'd always assumed Carthage was a design-beureau, but now it sounds like it was the codename for what they created - and if Lyoko was to 'destroy' Carthage, maybe Waldo intended his virtual world as a staging-ground for an attack against his former creation, just like how Jeremy ultimately used Lyoko to destroy XANA

*

This website also gives a small sample of the book, translated by myself;

The children approached the table: there was a motorcycle helmet with a strange apparatus installed in place of the visor, and gloves that were connected by wires to the computer unit. Next to it they saw some yellow keyboards that had to be at least twenty years old, and a huge monitor that had to have weighed a ton

"Wait a second," Yumi said, "this, and a prototype of the supercomputer." She fixed her eyes on Ulrich, "you're joking? You're saying that this place is an access to Lyoko?"

"Not quite. Perhaps its only a copy of Lyoko. Maybe the correct technical term would be a replica."

Those gloves and helmet are fascinating - it's clearly a virtual-reality headset that MUST have been the precursor to the scanners!

Hope this keeps the juices flowing, and having translated that one paragraph, I'm feeling a little more confident at the prospect of trying to translate the entire book-series, though it would be a massive undertaking...

Awesome info is awesome.

Looking forward to the fan-translation, TB3.

Well, with some time free, I finally got around to watching TB3's "Lyoko: Decoded"

Great job TB. You are extremely lucky to have gone on that journey.

My initital reaction, about halfway through watching it, (I started at Part 1A and watched the opening and dedication last... didn't see them) was to tell you that your videos had... well... let's compare to my efforts to a giant fire. My initial reaction was to tell you the videos had basically done the equivalent of adding a canister of gasoline to that fire.

After watching the entire thing, lets just say that the oil wells of the middle east are ablaze.
________

Also, because I know I'll probably get some long chastisement about that... let me make it perfectly clear that I am going about whatever I am doing in a completely sophisticated way. I am not annoying anyone. I have only emailed Taffy and/or MoonScoop about two times, and both letters were thought out and polite.

I have no intention on aggrivating anyone.

The analogy you used here is one of the most...weird ones I've heard. Right now, you remind me of Tobi from Naruto.

"Deidara-senpai! Deidara-senpai! The Three-Tails is over here! Where are you, Deidara-senpai?" Tobi screams, speeding off into the distance.
Fictional Conversation after the Episode "Routine:

Ulrich - "You couldn't wait, could you?"
Jeremy - "What are you talking about?"
*Ulrich grabs and lifts Jeremy by his collar.
Ulrich - "I was this close to tasting her porcelain lips. We weren't in any danger, but noooo! You had to return to the past anyway!"
*Jeremy sniffles as Aelita appears on screen and rolls her eyes
Aelita - Ulrich, put him down.

Love, this is the Novels thread. If you wanted to make a remark about L:D, it does have its own thread in Site Discussion. It's rather dead, but if you have comments of relevance to add to it there's nothing stopping you from reviving it.

Of course, my relevance is just going to be annoying. Teebs, about what time can you expect to pick up the books, if you are indeed going to translate them for the great unwashed of LF? And how much do they cost?

EDIT: CL.fr just had a news update, which of course these days is srs bizns. As well as announcing other news- CL is going to be starting airtime on France 4 over there and CL's ranking first in a "favorite series" poll with a good lead ahead of Naruto and Ben 10- they appear to have discovered the City With No Name info, along with two high quality images of the first two covers, but they don't appear to have as much plot info as we do and are crying out for a translation. Should we send our spoilers to them, or tell them about the possible fanslation? It would make them happy...

No need - in their thread for the Quadrilogy, I discovered that one of their moderators likes to lurk here and translate any information we find, as indeed, we do with any they find. He's also found out about the fanslation proposal and is proposing on his end that our two communities work together on this - I am now in the process of entering communications with him

I think I know enough French to do rough translations of the texts... wait, I forgot it was in Italian.

Well, still. Despite the fact we're different forums, we're still one Code Lyoko community. We should tell them and help that mod out in spreading the good news everywhere.

Which is odd considering CL was shuffled around 3 networks in Italy (Disney Channel, then Rai 2, then Cartoon Network), and to my knowledge only have seen the 1st season so far. -shrug-

the french poll is here: http://toowam.france3.fr/toowam.php?#

If you go to the bottom right of that page, there is a yellow box with arrows on either side, scroll through until you see "Les Heroes" CL should be on #1. Click on it. Find CL in the options and click, and you will have voted. You can vote once per day.

A bunch of CL fans, both in America and France, including myself, have been voting daily in a struggle to get CL to the #1 spot and we've succeeded.

Apparently, it's bringing CL back to France.

Now only if we could bring that popularity back to English speaking nations *begins to plot*

I see there is many things here...

Carth wrote:Tell him he's free to come and post if he knows any English...
Don't need to tell me, i was thinging in registered since few days. ^^

I think a collaboration for the translation will be a good thing ! Maybe it can get things moving at Moonscoop. A collaboration can help also give us a better translation, because we have differents points of view on the italian language. It will be strange if we work separately to have the same sentence with two differents meanings in each language.
Don't worry, i don't want to rush things, but if we can do a good job, it will be good ! :) Bring the two community together despite of the differents languages.

I don't understand why Moonscoop or Atlantyca don't launch an official translation. Code Lyoko is French, also many american fan, so why stay in italian where only the first season was released ? I can't wait...

Good news, I've order the two books, and i will receive them in few days ! Does anyone already got the books here ? After a first reading (I have never learn italian, but there is many similarities with french, so it's not so hard), maybe I can copy out again the text for you ? Do you want to make a fast translation just for information include, or a proper translation near to an official to share ?

If you can copy out the text Aqua, I can try to translate into English, and then we can compare our results to see if they match - I'm going to order copies of my own, but I'll be waiting until after Christmas when I have some more money

Quite possibly, once I have a copy of my own, I can work on copying out 'La Cite Senza Nome' while you work on copying 'Il Castello Soteranzo'

As for the translation, I'm actually a writer-in-training, so I'll be working to make the English translation as professional as possible

Lucky you two!

Unfortunately, I am pretty much terrible in any language except English, despite learning of at least 2 others. I mean, thanks to Latin I can grasp the basic meanings of words, but I would make a horrible translator.

But if you have any work that does not involve actual translating, I'd be happy to help.

they'll never answer you. They consider themselves too high and mighty for that.

And I doubt he'd even be ABLE to answer that.

However, if we presented all the evidence to him (like what I'm working on, sorry to bring it up again) then they might have be swayed a bit...

But it's probably in the cycle, that thing I mentioned where they will not air a show for years then bring it back when it will renew interest and therefore, make them $$$.

Anyways, um... I hate to be annoying, but... like how TB3 cautions me not to annoy MoonScoop, you probably shouldn't barrage CN with emails either.

Little heads up guys - Aqua's now obtained for himself the first two volumes, and has begun making headway on scanning some of the images that come in the back of it (the box full of items for example, which has a notebook-list, written by Jeremy, explaining every object)

And apparently, the computer mouse seen in one image in the box, came from the supercomputer, which is baffling because it's always been a keyboard interface, lol :D
