LyokoLover...you did the very same thing though with a piece of art by Son-Neko (the J/A pic); I remember calling you on that, and asked that you at least put credit to her for the original sketch of it. Even better would have been asking permission to post it since it wasn't your original picture, but a colored pencil version of Son-Neko's. At least you did give credit though.
Speaking of Icon theft though, you do know that the "XANA Inside" icon you're using was made by a member of DA by the name of QuiGonJin. I hope you've asked his permission to use that icon, otherwise that's icon theft, Lyokolover.

I never said personally contact them. It might even be better to publiclly threaten them about art theft. Besides, direct action has always yielded better results for me.
They can't, but we can. It doesn't matter if they can't tell, the point is they have no way to do anything about it (other than us contacting them, which should be enough proof for them to take it down). If they can't guarantee that the work presented isn't authentic (or that precautions have been taken to stop art thieves), then they shouldn't have the contest at all. DA, at least, gives you some kind of protection against art thieves with their "Report" feature; Report a deviation as a "theft" and it's taken down immediately. CL.com has nothing of the sort; only one e-mail address by which to contact them about site problems.
There's no place to "publically threaten" them either, with the exception of the forums. And the Forums are a branch off of the main site, so the thief may never even see your threat (of which they might not care about anyway).
Something has to be done. It's getting out of hand.

Hmm...but passing someone else's work off as your own is plagarism to the nth degree, and frankly despicable.
Using reference is something all artists do, as all art is based from real life. Now if your picture that you made with Chibi's Aelita pic was also an Aelita picture, with the same pose and the same concept, then that's bordering on art theft, at least. I'd have to see the picture to make a judgement on that. I can't tell from your description but I don't think you've technically stolen art either. A nice thank you to Chibi for the reference would be thoughtful though.
Either way, I just hope that for StarWay at least, everything works out in her favor.
