G-Force wrote:Well it really depends on where the thread goes discussion wise. If we only talk about cosplaying as the CL characters then by all means it should be in the CL section. However, it we we keep the topic on just cosplay in general by showing our costumes of different characters and other really cool cosplayers we've met then it should stay here.

OOH! I never saw Yumi's Xanadu outfit. I only have the first five-minute episode. Can you show me? Do you have the second episode? Cause remember, I didn't exist in Xanadu.

There are alot of fanatics at anime conventions and dressing up as a non-pure anime character (since Code Lyoko is French and not Japanese) may disqualify you from certain competitions...and get you really weird stares from some of the attendees. ^^;
G-Force wrote:mew raises a pretty good point about the "risks" that accompany CL cosplayers as there are quite a few rabid anime fans out there not to mention as a whole the anime community isn't too fond of the series as they claim it "tries to be like anime." However, there are many cosplayers who dress as characters not from anime. Examples I can think of are
Anyone from the Matrix (I'm guilty of this...Seraph RULES)
X-Men
Teen Titans
Sin City
Megas XLR
Now if you want to get noticed the easiest route is to go with the Lyoko outfits as if you wear their earth clothes people are just going to think you're a regular member. The only way I can think of of you getting notice going down the later route is if you have a group of friends with you dressed as characters from the same series. That or if you look like the spitting image of the character you're portraying.
Lani wrote:OMFGCOSPLAY???!!!!!!! ...You should NOT have started this topic because here I go!! xDDDD;;;
Just a note: Just because I'm uber obsessed with cosplay does not mean I'm an obsessive fangirl who thinks she's Asian and speaks really bad Japanese and addresses everyone with -chan and -kun (I may be obsessive fangirl, but I am Asian, I speak Japanese just fine, and I personally hate addresses). So if you saw any of my cosplay pics just to let you know I'm not scary looking at all... Just ask anyone who's seen my pic xD;;
I have already done Yumi's Earth costume, I wore it for Katsucon this past February. But of course, it looks so normal that no one woulda guessed I was in costume xD;;
Anyway, this summer for Otakon (If you live on the east coast I say GO! I was also planning on being Aelita's S2 Earth outfit (BOOTS!) for Anime USA much later this year in November. So yeah... CL is taking over my cosplay life :x
Also: I was started this costume when I was bored one day, and it's a female version of Odd! xD; Let me tell you it involves a VERY short skirt and a lot of purple... :O
Now, for a contest? Just tell me when you'd like the deadline to be (but please have it in the summer... I made a deal with my dad after he got really pissed and so I'm not allowed to sew until school ends :x), and I'll do my best to finish!
Yep, your resident cosplay addict signing off.... well not really. I'm around.
