CL cos playing

General original series discussion (Seasons 1-4)

Moderators: The Administrators, Moderators

Well it really depends on where the thread goes discussion wise. If we only talk about cosplaying as the CL characters then by all means it should be in the CL section. However, it we we keep the topic on just cosplay in general by showing our costumes of different characters and other really cool cosplayers we've met then it should stay here.

Agreed.

Darkness Incarnate, if you want this to be in CL Discussion, I'll move it, but you might wanna change the title to "CL Cosplaying", or something similar.

Just a word of caution to those planning to cosplay as CL characters to upcoming anime conventions...beware...

There are alot of fanatics at anime conventions and dressing up as a non-pure anime character (since Code Lyoko is French and not Japanese) may disqualify you from certain competitions...and get you really weird stares from some of the attendees. ^^;

Cosplay is fun though. I made myself a Lyoko Aelita costume although I honestly look nothing like her. *sweatdrop* For those of you who are unsure you want to sacrifice your own hair and hair color for the sake of a cosplay...wigs can do some seriously amazing things. Short black hair wigs are particularly easy to find, and all wigs are pretty flexible to certain hair styles as well. :)

OOH! I never saw Yumi's Xanadu outfit. I only have the first five-minute episode. Can you show me? Do you have the second episode? Cause remember, I didn't exist in Xanadu. XD

xDD I don't think there ever was a second episode to Garage Kids, but I have seen <a href="http://www.codelyoko.net/FRA/Garage_Kids/Garage_Kids_017.jpg">official sketchy piccy</a> of it... I like it more than her Lyoko costume because, well... SLEEVES >D

Otakon this year is taking place at the Baltimore Convention Center in MD. The dates are Aug. 4~6, and they have an attendance cap, just like they did last year... if you want more specific details, I'll PM you or you can check out <a href="http://www.otakon.com">the site</a> ^_^

I do know this :O~ I wasn't planning on entering any contests... I just want people to recognize me xD;; They do, however, allow non-anime characters in skits if there are actual video game/anime/manga characters to go along with them...

mew raises a pretty good point about the "risks" that accompany CL cosplayers as there are quite a few rabid anime fans out there not to mention as a whole the anime community isn't too fond of the series as they claim it "tries to be like anime." However, there are many cosplayers who dress as characters not from anime. Examples I can think of are

Anyone from the Matrix (I'm guilty of this...Seraph RULES)
X-Men
Teen Titans
Sin City
Megas XLR

Now if you want to get noticed the easiest route is to go with the Lyoko outfits as if you wear their earth clothes people are just going to think you're a regular member. The only way I can think of of you getting notice going down the later route is if you have a group of friends with you dressed as characters from the same series. That or if you look like the spitting image of the character you're portraying.

Odd in his regular clothes though, may get you noticed...particularly if you spike your hair up like he does. Then again, you do run the risk of being mistaken for a saiyan if you dress up as Odd...particularly Lyoko Odd since he has a tail (although his is a cat's and not a monkey's). ^^ The purple might confuse them though. XD

Actually...if you want to cosplay but don't want all of the attention that comes with cosplaying (people are going to ask you for pictures if you're costume is really good so be prepared), dressing up as Team Lyoko in their "everyday" clothes gives you the fun of dressing up, without all of the photos...unless there's a herd of undercover CL fans there...which there very well may be. X) Anyway though, cosplay is a blast, whomever you go as! ^.^

Lani wrote:OMFGCOSPLAY???!!!!!!! ...You should NOT have started this topic because here I go!! xDDDD;;;

Just a note: Just because I'm uber obsessed with cosplay does not mean I'm an obsessive fangirl who thinks she's Asian and speaks really bad Japanese and addresses everyone with -chan and -kun (I may be obsessive fangirl, but I am Asian, I speak Japanese just fine, and I personally hate addresses). So if you saw any of my cosplay pics just to let you know I'm not scary looking at all... Just ask anyone who's seen my pic xD;;

I have already done Yumi's Earth costume, I wore it for Katsucon this past February. But of course, it looks so normal that no one woulda guessed I was in costume xD;;

Anyway, this summer for Otakon (If you live on the east coast I say GO! Because here's my plan for the weekend...), I was planning on not only doing Yumi's Earth costume, but her Xanadu costume from Garage Kids and the dance outfit from Teddygozilla for the Saturday night dance :O This also means I'm going to have to cut my hair shorter than it is now and dye it black, even if it is dark brown and appears black in most pictures... but better safe than sorry, ne?

I was also planning on being Aelita's S2 Earth outfit (BOOTS! <3) for Anime USA much later this year in November. So yeah... CL is taking over my cosplay life :x

Also: I was started this costume when I was bored one day, and it's a female version of Odd! xD; Let me tell you it involves a VERY short skirt and a lot of purple... :O

Now, for a contest? Just tell me when you'd like the deadline to be (but please have it in the summer... I made a deal with my dad after he got really pissed and so I'm not allowed to sew until school ends :x), and I'll do my best to finish! :D

Yep, your resident cosplay addict signing off.... well not really. I'm around. :P

xDD From the moment I saw this topic, I knew you'd freak out about it. :P

Uhh... well I've never been to any conventions or cosplayed as like anybody (unless you count the time I noticed I was wearing all green and I went "OMG IT'S LIKE ULRICH'S!!" xDD) because I'm a loser and I'm like afraid to go anywhere unless a friend's going with me and mine either don't like anime or don't feel like it... ^^;;

I could look like...

....

XANA. Pretty much. xD;;

I've actually never been to a cosplaying convention, but I'm sure that I could pull of dressing up as Ulrich if I wanted to. I have mercilessly short brown hair and dark eyes, so it wouldn't be that hard; but it would probably be very painful for me to strap my chest down. The other problem is that my face is rounded, and I'm extremely short. I'd probably play a better Odd, if I had the money to buy that wash-out blonde hair dye stuff. And if I lost like. Seventy pounds. o_o *not exactly... 'svelte'*
Bang, baby.

There is a black dude in code lyoko. He is the dude that [I think] has a Mp3 in his ear all the time. Anyway i act like Ulrich ,but don't dress like him.

No, but she is almost like yumi[she is from Colorodo]. It would be cool if she was ,but she is not like yumi in one way she is not that close of a friend and I am the only one who likes her.

The easiest (but no less expensive) Code Lyoko cosplay I can think of is that you snag yourself a pair of XANA contacts and you can go as a random possessed person minus the ablility to shoot electricity out of your hands...bummer.

Now if I see someone at a convention dressed as a block, that would make my day.

Think of all the awesome pictures you can take with those if you used them as props. Set up your Blocks in a forest area and jump on them like how Ulrich does or any other pose you can think of. That would be a sweet photo op.

ROFL!!! :*D Agreed!

The only thing that would make it more awesome...is if a Yumi, Ulrich, or Odd cosplayer met up with it. XD Hyaahh! X)

Omg photoshoots and meet-ups... you are making me too excited xD;;; Gawd, we seriously should all like dress up and then go to a con and meet up and torment the non-anime haters and be like "BWAHAHAHAH!" I dunno... >>;

On the subject of cosplay, I ordered my <a href="http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=25492&cat=2428&page=1">Yumi boots</a> and they should be coming soon.. :O And I have kept in mind for my Aelita cosplay a <a href="http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=16469&cat=2446">wig</a> and still trying to find the perfect boots... there are boots on that site though that look somewhat like hers and they come in red so hmmm....

And uh, am I allowed to post my Yumi cosplay picture here? xD;;
